Thursday night orchestra is younger kids plus about 6 adults, some are teachers. At the moment there are only two students of mine here. I play viola here – it is a very small section with two students, plus me and another adult.
Tonight one of the violists was out, so I sat up front with the other student. I prefer sitting with a student so I can point out things (nag) to help them.
The best part of this group? Always something to crack up about. Kids!
Tonight the orchestra had a bigger sound than one would expect from a smallish group. The music is coming together. They were given a new piece to play – didn’t sound too bad. I hope the conductor decides to keep it in the concert program as it is one of my favorites at this level, an arrangement of The Moldau by Smetana.
